Boat Launch and Beach 1 Area

General Description

The central island of the boat ramp area will be extended to allow more planting and to restrict pedestrian traffic with vehicles as boats are put in and taken out of the water. ADA handicap access to the boat ramp will run from the restroom around the edge of the roadway in its current location. A staging area near the boat ramp will provide space for boaters to secure their boat out of the way of those launching boats. The fish cleaning station will be positioned further west than the existing station and will be ADA compliant.

The existing restroom will be replaced with a new restroom located closer to the beach. The restroom will have 8 unisex stalls and is designed to maintain the historic district of Pinecrest and will utilize sustainable principals to minimize water use and resource consumption through energy saving designs.

To improve the function of the boat ramp area, the Pinecrest Traffic/Circulation/Parking Plan recommended improvements to the parking lot adjacent to Beach 1, which will allow for reconfiguration of pedestrian circulation in this area.
